Review: Fractured Light

Fractured Light by Rachel McClellan
Expected Publication date: February 8, 2012

One word, Awesome! I had the privilege of reading this through netgalley and I loved it.

This story is about a girl, Llona, who has lost both of her parents and is living with her young uncle. She is an Aura, which means she has light within her that she can manipulate. She is constantly moving around to keep the Vykens, vampire-like creatures, from discovering and killing her. She meets a lot of new students at her school and is smitten with an athlete named Christian. Their relationship is very complicated and he is constantly trying to save her. Lots of signs point to the fact that someone is tracking Llona and is trying to kill her. Llona discovers how to use her light as a weapon in order to save herself from harm.

This book constantly kept me guessing at who the "good guy" was and who the "bad guy" was. It was refreshing to not be able to guess the entire plot of the book in the first 3 chapters. You felt like you almost had it figured out and then, "BAM", something would happen and you completely changed your mind. The plot was great and the characters were well developed. I highly recommend this book and I can not wait for it to come out so that I can add it to my book collection.

  3. This looks like one that I would really enjoy. I really like the superhero kind of books or just SYFY in general. Although it does make me think of a younger generation. Kind of like Twilight, so I am not sure what to think about it. It sounds like one that I should give a chance though.
