Review: Sweet Evil

Anna has always been able to sense how other people feel, it's a sixth sense that only she has, or so it seems. When Anna turns sixteen she learns that she is the only daughter of the Duke of Substance Abuse. She is half guardian angel and half fallen angel. Her adoptive mother can only tell her that the key to her past lies with two people in California- the nun that helped deliver her and her father. Unfortunately, the nun is elderly and does not have much time left and her father is in jail. In an effort to get to the nun before she passes away, Anna heads on a long road trip with Kaidan, the son of Lust. Anna is the all around sweet, southern girl that lives a pure life and Kaidan's job is to destroy it all. Neither of them is ready for the feelings that they evoke within each other. Can they keep Anna safe as they battle the demons swirling around them? Or will they fall victim to their own sins?

I loved this book! Anna is the sweet girl that you are able to relate to. She wants to live a good, pure life free from the drugs that she feels a strong pull towards. Being the daughter of substance abuse, she could be hooked within seconds. She is strong in her faith and is crushed to learn the horrible realities that come with being the daughter of a fallen angel.
Kaidan is the stereotypical bad boy that you can't help falling for even though you know it can only end in heartache. As the son of the Duke of Lust, he can't love anyone. His job is to sleep with women, make it so they will never be able to forget him, and then leave them. He is a drummer in an up and coming band, has more money than he knows what to do with, and killer blue eyes. All of that mixed together leads to trouble when it comes to Anna's heart.
There were so many times when I was reading that I was rooting for Kaidan to become more than what he is- you can see that he wants to be able to care for Anna but his heritage is keeping him from allowing anything other than Lust.
This book was awesome and you were sucked in from page one. It is full of heart pounding emotion right to the last page. Wendy Higgins has written a breathtaking first installment that will leave you begging for more!
