I was very excited to have the opportunity to read and review the second book in the Florence Waverly Series, “Luminaire” and I was blown away! The world that the author has created is rich, colorful, and exciting, and has been described so well that you feel as if you are underwater with the characters. I was so engrossed in this novel that I was able to read it in about four hours and was lost in the world of Niemela the entire time.
This book starts with Florence trying to figure out the craziness that is her life underwater as the only human stuck in a world full of Mer folk. She is given dreams that force her into competing in a dangerous tournament where the only winners are the survivors.
I have grown to love this series and cannot wait to see what unfolds for Florence, her friends, and the entire city of Niemela in the third book. Make sure to read the first book in this series, it’s one you don’t want to miss!

"The captain watched the others leave the
chamber. He shook his head. “You shouldn’t have
compromised with Provonox. The Council issupposed to serve a king, not the other way around.
You cannot let them overexert their power.”
“I do not intend to,” said Rolan. “But Provonox
is right.” He looked through the open doorway, out
into the Homestead. “We need more Niemelans to
defend our home from the dangers beyond.”
“But what about the dangers within?” said
Dorsimer.
Rolan didn’t reply, and the question hung in the
water…"
